Provisioning
Materiel Maintenance Management Objectives: Overall, this training
will help the trainee develop a basic understanding of the Army Materiel
Maintenance System. It will provide information on the policies and responsible
activities that shape the roles of the specialized Logistician.
Provisioner Course Objectives: Upon the completion of this course,
the trainee will be able to perform critical tasks related to the function of a
Provisioner.
Course Description: The Provisioner is a specialized Logistician who
has a wide range of functions. Those functions deal with: 1)Planning and
Budgeting, 2) Cataloging, 3) Computation, 4) Procurement,
5) Distribution and 6) Documentation. This course is one of three
sub courses in the Maintenance Management Curriculum. The two other sub
courses are:
Maintenance Engineering and
Publications.
Course Outline: There are three introductory lessons that are
included in all three curriculums:
- Army Materiel System
- Acquisition Management
- Army Logistics and the Warfighter
These three introductory lessons will provide the trainee with a comprehensive
understanding of the Army policies and procedures in the development of newly
acquired and existing materiel systems and how the Warfigher depends on the
Logistician to ensure system design is conducive to system function.

Understanding the Provisioning Process |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will understand what
Provisioning is, the various provisioning actions, and the relationship
provisioning has with program milestones and the Provisioning Database. |
| Module II: |
Defining the Provisioning Requirement |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will understand what
entails: Data Call, Procurement Data Package, Technical Evaluation of
Proposals, Contract Review, Provisioning Guidance Conference and the
Provisioning Conference. |
| Module III: |
Understanding the Configuration |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to establish
a LCN, PCCN, PCC, PLISN, TM Number and access the PCR file and 01L Card. |
| Module IV: |
Understanding the SMR Codes |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will understand the
importance of the SMR codes as to be able to appropriately assign the
correct code to major and secondary items. |
| Module V: |
Understanding the Database (LMP/CCSS) |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to utilize
the PMR and NSNMDR and understand the Structural, Maintenance, Cataloging
and RPSTL Data Elements. LMP is the new wholesale logistics process system
which replaced CCSS and SDS. |
| Module VI: |
How to Conduct a IPR |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to Review
Data Sources, Verify the Configuration, Verify the Data Elements and
Document the Findings. |
| Module VII: |
Submission of the PPL, SPTD and RPSTL Art |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will learn how to receive
the PPL, SPTD and the RPSTL Art for review and load into the database. |
| Module VIII: |
Cataloging |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will understand the
significance of Preprocurement Screening and the Catalog Provisioning
System. |
| Module IX: |
How to Compute the SLAC, ARSIP and SESAME |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to compute
requirements for initial and follow-on provisioning. |
| Module X: |
Preparation of the RPSTL |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to understand
what entails the development of a RPSTL. The trainee will understand the
direct relationship between the RPSTL and the Provisioning Database |
| Module XI: |
The Design Change Process |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to analyze
the impact on Provisioning from ECPs and DCNs. |
| Module XII: |
CCSS/LMP (government), Powerlog (industry) |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will be able to understand
the business processes of the applicable database for Provisioning tasks. |
| Module XIII: |
End of Course Demonstration |
| Objective: |
Upon completion of this module, the trainee will prove the learning
outcomes by participating in a live demonstration, comprehensive to the
knowledge obtained throughout this course. This exercise will allow the
trainee gain a practicable and holistic point of view of the primary
functions of the Provisioner. |
